if you love angel numbers, signs, + symbols, you must try a tea leaf reading

signs, symbols, angel numbers; all confirmations from a higher self that just resonate like nothing else. it's the reason why my texts are always lighting up with pics of license plates and phone numbers and screen shots from friends and clients, often accompanied by things like:

"why do i keep seeing 444? it's EVERYWHERE for me."

"omg whyyyy turtles in my feed so much?"

"i'm scared of seeing 666 is that a bad omen or a warning?! HELP"

all of which really tickle me, by the way. i'm hideously guilty of thinking that 7s are on a personal mission to tell me something or to confirm the thought i had in my head at that time.

(by the way, this is often what i share when i get those kind of texts: "what were you thinking about when you saw this?" normally it's a confirmation or a gentle redirection from the thought loop you were in. a nod from your higher self saying yes, or you'll be protected if you go in that direction or, NOT THAT AGAIN NOOOOO)

also, truly sometimes it's just the algo. use discernment. :)

but at times our questions are a bit more philosophical; maybe we're looking for a much larger picture or background story of what's trying to come through. the in-the-moment "yes" or green light is no longer hitting like it once did.

maybe we're a creative with a serious block. maybe there's a life path change that's just beginning to unfold. maybe we have bigger issues that need reflection: zoomed out, unbiased, the first steps of a brand new journey.

guidance that feels less like a prediction, and more like a conversation. a moment of inner pause to gather your thoughts and proceed with a vision.

my first tea leaf reading came at a time of major, "i feel something but don't know what it is or where i'm going or what's next for me and i'm desperate to connect."

like i was looking for a birds-eye view to get me to understand even a direction to move in.

intuitively it felt bigger; like, "what am i even doing with my life" bigger.

dramatic, existential, blocked, yes; but ready for a sign.

ready for the tea, straight from my highest self.

jezmina von thiele, fortune teller, educator, writer, and performer, is now one of my most trusted readers + divinatory practitioners, but the first time they appeared in my life was for this tea leaf reading.

i knew i was moving away from some things in my life - maybe not immediately, but a new cycle was starting - and moving toward others that felt new and discoverable.

so when they asked what my intention was, i left the reading open to what answers were ready to appear.

what messages were going to guide my new way?

what symbols might shape this new path?

"it looks like a cartoon-candy heart wrapped in an anatomically-correct heart."

i don't think another phrase will ever resonate with me the same way again.

the reason i've loved working with jezmina, being read for by jezmina, and now in present times, collaborating with jezmina, is their soft and conversational approach to divinatory work. for seekers, the themes that bring them to a reading are often heavy, life-changing, mysterious, existential. in that fragile state, almost no one is ready or wants their world turned upside down by what they might hear.

and, similarly, what unfolds is truly just a probable or strongly intuited outcome; nothing is certain. it's a nudge towards what could be, your highest potential.

so what happened next during my reading i can confirm, set the tone of what was to begin to reveal itself. some actions i had to take; some themes that would be presenting; some help that would be showing up along the way.

SOME NOTES ON WHAT TO EXPECT

this is a good start if you're looking for general guidance to move in a new life direction, and symbols to relate to on this journey.

the dual heart - especially the idea of the softer, feminine, whimsical heart wrapped up in one that felt more pragmatic, authentic, real - became a centralized theme for me in a following journey of identity exploration, ancestry, career, and purpose. it was a constant reminder to stay rooted, but also, that in exposing my authentic self, i was safe and protected. the heart would also become the centralized theme in my work with others; through our conversation, i came to understand the heart was my journey and my destination, my path and my gift.

some of what comes up is meant for you to know in that moment; other symbols may reveal themselves over time.

another major theme in this reading that came up for me was books, and they were attached to almost every other symbol or situation that appeared. a little girl reading a book while a dragon protected her; who was also, reading a book. super esoteric, maybe. but for me, it reminded me of being young and reading all. the. time. a hobby that has fallen by the wayside as an adult. was i interested in getting back into this? were there subjects or things that i wanted to know more about? i didn't know this then, but it opened up a path to going back to school, to actively learning more about subjects that i loved but didn't even consider a hobby.

okay but what about the dragon?

some symbols are for you to evoke meaning from what you know, what you feel, what it may represent in your culture or life; some are for the reader. this one actually felt like a puzzle in the moment. we decided it represented some level of protection, power, that allowed that inner child to explore and safely tap into her curiosities.

later, in conversation it came up with a writer friend that the first "book" they had written as a child was about a dragon, and that on their current press tour, it was prominently on display as a reminder to them that they were living a lifelong dream.

the beauty of this type of reading is in the possibility, the ritual, the conversation.

be prepared to have a lot of introspection in the moment, and far after. where i find other types of divination to be more "directional" in their guidance, because the symbols in tea leaf readings can be more abstract, the discovery is in the approach to dissecting what appears. it's an opportunity to go deeper, perhaps getting hits from your intuition, your subconscious, your future self.

this isn't really the type of reading to go and just listen. the best outcome is when you are open to being a bit vulnerable, knowing you are safe in what is being revealed for you.

if you were looking for a sign, this is it.

connecting with the symbolism that comes up can be a strong confirmation of your path forward + a tool to connect with your highest self. although certain number sequences feel resonant, i feel extremely confirmed in a message if an anatomically-correct heart crosses my path. as with any type of divination, take what feels good to you and leave the rest.
